About Us

Founded through entrepreneurial initiatives that began in the 1960s, Kurmel Holding is today one of the distinguished corporations of our country. The Group encompasses several companies, including Gümüştaş Madencilik A.Ş. specializing in gold and silver production; the Canada-partnered Horzum Madencilik A.Ş. operating in zinc and lead production; Akmetal Madencilik A.Ş. and Pınar Madencilik A.Ş. active in chrome and zinc mining; Aktav A.Ş. producing acoustic materials; Saray Halı A.Ş. manufacturing machine-made carpets; and Saray Tarım ve Hayvancılık A.Ş., which includes dairy farming, livestock breeding, forage crop production, and meat and dairy processing facilities. Together, these companies form a multi-sector organization.

Our Foundation Story

The foundations of Kurmel Holding were laid in a modest mining site located near a small mountain town on the slopes of the Taurus Mountains in the mid-1960s—then known as Karsantı and today called Aladağ. Inspired by a nearby spring, founders Necati Kurmel and his cousin Ataman Fedai named their small enterprise Pınar. Through dedication and hard work, they succeeded in exporting Pınar’s mined materials to overseas markets in a short period.

The success of Pınar strengthened Necati Kurmel’s desire to expand and diversify his investment goals. In the mid-1970s, he became a shareholder in his hometown Develi’s carpet factory, Saray Halı. Over the following decade, with his humble yet effective leadership, he helped transform Saray Halı into one of the country’s leading machine-made carpet manufacturers.

Committed from the very beginning to reinvesting his earnings back into the business, Kurmel continued acquiring land and property, laying the groundwork for a successful real estate development initiative. Today, Kurmel Group continues its journey with companies engaged in construction, real estate, and building materials—supported by a substantial land inventory, largely concentrated around Istanbul.

• Agriculture and Livestock: With Saray Tarım ve Hayvancılık A.Ş., we have established an integrated system in our modern facilities in Kayseri and Adana, ranging from forage crop production to livestock breeding, and meat and dairy processing.
• Real Estate and Construction: With our extensive land portfolio and ongoing projects, we continue to invest in construction and real estate development.
• Building Materials and Acoustics: Through Aktav Akustik, we operate in the production of acoustic materials and building components.
